Alarming Recording Captures Point Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush

Both Sergeants Moments Prior to the Attacker Got Stunned

A senior officer who rushed to the aid of a partner that was assaulted by a knife attacker received the King's Commendation for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he placed a weapon to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the officers and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in that location in summer 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera recording shared by the agency revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.

He collided with the officer who stumbled and fell to the street, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and struggled to restrain him to the pavement even though being multiple times hit with the blade.

Police Constable Wolstencroft Stopped the Assailant, Jacob Brown, with a Stun Gun

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a clear shot, concluding the struggle to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Can I get help on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell received two lacerations to his neck and further cuts to his arms and body, while Sgt Foster suffered slash wounds.

Officials said Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stem his fellow officer's blood loss before emergency responders arrived.

This most recent award follows subsequent to the law enforcement team won organizational Courage Honors in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area officer association in spring 2024.

They were also awarded a Regional Valor Recognition in summer 2024.

"The actions of the entire team eventually protected each other and ensured no bystanders experienced any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in April 2024, as stated by authorities.
